With NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor
BRITE hierarchy
Sysname
protochlorophyllide-a:NADP+ C-81-oxidoreductase
Reaction(IUBMB)
protochlorophyllide a + NADP+ = 3,8-divinyl protochlorophyllide a + NADPH + H+ [RN:R06896]
Reaction(KEGG)
R06896;
(other) R06272
Show
Substrate
protochlorophyllide a [CPD:C02880];
NADP+ [CPD:C00006]
Product
3,8-divinyl protochlorophyllide a [CPD:C11831];
NADPH [CPD:C00005];
H+ [CPD:C00080]
Comment
The enzyme, found in higher plants, green algae, and some phototrophic bacteria, is involved in the production of monovinyl versions of (bacterio)chlorophyll pigments from their divinyl precursors. It can also act on 3,8-divinyl chlorophyllide a. cf. EC 1.3.7.13, 3,8-divinyl protochlorophyllide a 8-vinyl-reductase (ferredoxin).
