KEGG   ENZYME: 1.21.3.11
Entry
EC 1.21.3.11                Enzyme
Name
precondylocarpine acetate synthase;
PAS (gene name)
Class
Oxidoreductases;
Catalysing the reaction X-H + Y-H = X-Y;
With oxygen as acceptor
Sysname
stemmadenine acetate:oxygen oxidoreductase
Reaction(IUBMB)
stemmadenine acetate + O2 = precondylocarpine acetate + H2O2 [RN:R13344]
Reaction(KEGG)
R13344
Substrate
stemmadenine acetate [CPD:C22933];
O2 [CPD:C00007]
Product
precondylocarpine acetate [CPD:C22934];
H2O2 [CPD:C00027]
Comment
The enzyme, characterized from the plant Catharanthus roseus (Madagascar periwinkle), participates in a pathway that leads to the production of a number of monoterpene alkaloids, as well as the bisindole alkaloids vinblastine and vincristine, which are used as anticancer drugs. The enzyme is similar to berberine bridge enzymes such as EC 1.21.3.3, reticuline oxidase, and requires an FAD cofactor.
