Description
Delayed sleep phase disorder (DSPD) is characterized by a 3 to 6-hour delayed sleep schedule relative to the desired. The single nucleotide polymorphism (Ala129Thr) in Arylalkylamine N-acetyltransferase (AANAT), a rate-limiting enzyme in melatonin synthesis, has been identified in patients with delayed sleep phase disorder.
