Oropouche fever is an infectious disease caused by Oropouche virus (OROV), an orthobunyavirus in the order Bunyavirales of -ssRNA viruses, and transmitted by mosquitoes and biting midges. OROV was first isolated in 1955 in Trinidad and Tobago.
