KEGG   ENZYME: 1.14.15.40
Entry
EC 1.14.15.40               Enzyme
Name
cyclohexane-1-carboxylate 4-trans-hydroxylase;
chcAa (gene name)
Class
Oxidoreductases;
Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen;
With reduced iron-sulfur protein as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen into the other donor
Sysname
cyclohexane-1-carboxylate,ferredoxin:oxygen oxidoreductase (4-trans-hydroxylating)
Reaction(IUBMB)
cyclohexane-1-carboxylate + 2 reduced ferredoxin [iron-sulfur] cluster + O2 + 2 H+ = trans-4-hydroxycyclohexane-1-carboxylate + 2 oxidized ferredoxin [iron-sulfur] cluster + H2O [RN:R13327]
Reaction(KEGG)
R13327
Substrate
cyclohexane-1-carboxylate [CPD:C09822];
reduced ferredoxin [iron-sulfur] cluster [CPD:C00138];
O2 [CPD:C00007];
H+ [CPD:C00080]
Product
trans-4-hydroxycyclohexane-1-carboxylate [CPD:C04404];
oxidized ferredoxin [iron-sulfur] cluster [CPD:C00139];
H2O [CPD:C00001]
Comment
The enzyme, characterized from the bacterium Corynebacterium cyclohexanicum, is a cytochrome P-450 enzyme that participates in the degradation pathway of cyclohexane-1-carboxylate. The initial source of the electrons is NADH, which transfers the electrons to a specific [2Fe-2S] ferredoxin via a dedicated EC 1.18.1.3, ferredoxin---NAD+ reductase.
