KEGG   ENZYME: 2.6.1.127
Entry
EC 2.6.1.127                Enzyme
Name
spermidine---8-amino-7-oxononanoate transaminase;
BIO3-BIO1 (gene name)
Class
Transferases;
Transferring nitrogenous groups;
Transaminases
Sysname
spermidine:8-amino-7-oxononanoate aminotransferase
Reaction(IUBMB)
spermidine + 8-amino-7-oxononanoate = N-(3-aminopropyl)-4-aminobutanal + 7,8-diaminononanoate [RN:R13517]
Reaction(KEGG)
R13517
Substrate
spermidine [CPD:C00315];
8-amino-7-oxononanoate [CPD:C01092]
Product
N-(3-aminopropyl)-4-aminobutanal [CPD:C23055];
7,8-diaminononanoate [CPD:C01037]
Comment
A pyridoxal 5'-phosphate enzyme. The enzyme, characterized from the plant Arabidopsis thaliana, differs from enzymes that catalyse a similar reaction by using spermidine as the amino group donor. The enzyme from Arabidopsis thaliana is bifunctional and also catalyses EC 6.3.3.3, dethiobiotin synthase. cf. EC 2.6.1.62, adenosylmethionine---8-amino-7-oxononanoate transaminase, and EC 2.6.1.105, lysine---8-amino-7-oxononanoate transaminase
