The class Zygomycetes is divided into two orders, Mucorales and Entomophthorales. These two orders produce different infections. Genera from the order Mucorales cause an angioinvasive infection called mucormycosis. Mucormycosis can present as rhinocerebral, pulmonary, disseminated, cutaneous and gastrointestinal involvement. Genera from the order Entomophthorales cause a chronic subcutaneous infection called entomophthoramycosis in immunocompetent patients.
