Cystoisosporiasis is a human enteritis caused by Cystoisospora belli. Cystoisospora belli is an obligate intracellular protozoa in phylum Apicomplexa. The transmission is through ingestion of sporulated oocysts contaminating food or water. It can cause severe diarrhea in immunocompromised patients, with a high rate of recurrence and risk of dissemination.
