Primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM) is a perilous and devastating waterborne disease caused by Naegleria fowleri. N. fowleri is a free-living, thermophilic amoeba distributed worldwide in soil and warm freshwater. PAM is a rare but fatal disease usually affecting children and young adults all around the world. This acute infection is developed by the entry of N. fowleri through nasal cavity.
